Madan Uprety is currently the medical director at the inpatient unit of Adventist Behavioral Health, Assistant Professor at Howard University School of Medicine, and CEO and President of My Psychiatrist PLC. Dr. Uprety has extensive “real world” clinical experience treating thousands of patients in rural and urban areas on an inpatient and outpatient basis. His compassion for the patient combined with his efficient and effective practice methods make him a clinician patients and administration truly value.
Dr. Uprety is an outstanding clinician, accomplished researcher, talented teacher, and an entrepreneur by nature. His entrepreneurial spirit has spanned decades from the educational institute he established in Nepal at the age of 19, to the half dozen organizations he ran by the time he graduated from Medical School at 25. Passionate about developing full service mental health services in areas with limited mental health options he is currently leading a team to develop a model telepsychiatric practice to provide mental health clinics and individuals residing in underserved communities access to a full range of mental health services.
Dr. Uprety was selected as one of the 15 most talented students in his former country of residence and was awarded full scholarship for 6 years of medical school. While studying medicine in Katmandu, Nepal, he published the textbook “Essentials of MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) entrance examination”. During his fourth year of psychiatry residency training at Brookdale University Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Uprety was selected as a chief resident providing leadership to 20 resident psychiatrists while fostering their clinical and professional training.
Dr. Uprety has presented on a spectrum of clinical and business forums nationally and internationally. His extensive professional, and personal, experience engaging with people across the world has given him a deep appreciation of the human experience while expanding his own cultural sensitivity.
Dr. Uprety is an active member of the American Medical Association and American Psychiatry Association. He is board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
